“…Considering the hazardous nature of MB and CR dyes, there are various reports in the literature on the degradation of these dyes using ZnO nanostructures in aqueous media. 46–63 Since the photocatalytic degradation of these dyes occurs predominantly on the surface of the photocatalyst, studies on the adsorption of the dyes from aqueous solution onto ZnO particles are relevant and important. The equilibrium concentration of the dye ( C eq ) in contact with the catalyst, instead of that of the feed dye solution, represents the true dye concentration in solution at the start of irradiation.…”

“…After 60 min, the rate reached its optimum removal efficiency, 94.4%, and a linear relationship between degradation of MB dye and increase in contact time was observed. This is because prolonging irradiation time allows light to fall on the catalyst surfaces and induce formation of photon excited species and enhances the photocatalytic activities [ 58 ].…”

“…Also, from the Scherrer Calculator, [48] the size of anatase crystallite was 6.2 nm. [49] The (111) and (200) reflection planes of gold have sharp peaks at 2θ of 38.1°and 44.3°, respectively.…”

“…The colloidal TiO 2 suspension was prepared by controlled hydrolysis of titanium tetrachloride (TiCl 4 ), followed by Rabani et al [33] We used a homemade setup for producing the colloidal TiO 2 suspension in a more controlled and reproducible manner. [49] An ice-cold TiCl 4 liquid is slowly introduced into a 0.1 M HCl aqueous solution along with a stream of dry Ar and vigorous stirring. Note that the TiCl 4 should not contact any moisture before getting to the solution; therefore, the dry-addition apparatus was used.…”
