Controlled release of curcumin from coaxial electrospun nanofiber mats

Abstract: In this study, a controlled drug delivery system (DDS) was developed by coaxial electrospinning. Fabricate a controlled DDS using electrospun nanofibers formed with a single concentric nozzle is challenging because of the rapid initial release rate. Therefore, in this study, electrospinning was conducted using dual or triple concentric nozzles to fabricate controlled DDSs. Polycaprolactone and poly(ethylene oxide) were used as the shell and core polymeric materials, respectively, and curcumin was used as the m… Show more

“…Spontaneous adsorption of biomolecules on engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) in biological fluids is an important issue in the field of nanomedicine such as drug delivery systems 1,2 as the adsorbed biomolecules, which are often referred to as biomolecular coronas, alter the biological identity of ENMs. [3][4][5] Due to this, extensive research has been carried out to understand the biomolecular coronas, in particular protein coronas, and their influences on the efficacy of ENMs and related biological processes.…”
