“…Using Co 2p 3/2 binding energies as reference, the signals of our CoTe 2 sample align with the literature values for CoTe and CoTe 2 which have been reported to be within a range of 778.5 and 781.2 eV encompassing nanostructures, films, or hybrids . The proximity in signals may be attributed to the valence state of Co. Akin to CoTe with an oxidation state of Co 2+ , a divalent oxidation state of Co has been suggested for CoTe 2 in a separate study on a CoTe 2 /carbon nanotube hybrid . The X‐ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) analysis on the CoTe 2 /carbon nanotube hybrid revealed the oxidation state of Co to be +2 due to the Te 2 2− dimer .…”

“…Metal oxide nanoparticles, such as iron oxide (Fe 3 O 4 ), manganese oxide (Mn 2 O 3 ), copper oxide (CuO), nickel oxide (NiO), zinc oxide (ZnO), etc., act as photocatalysts, which play a significant role in the removal of MB from polluted water [19][20][21]. For photocatalysis applications, titanium is highly used, known as the ninth most abundant element present in Earth's crust.…”

“…The phase is also considered a semiconductor with a band gap equal to 2.05 eV, which made viable the photo-reduction process using this phase and visible light to convert carbon dioxide into methane, showing its applicability for air cleaning. 20 Many techniques can produce better quality nanostructures but are oen more complicated and high cost (e.g. exfoliation and ion milling 21 ).…”
