“…Consequently, higher temperature with a shorter retention time or lower temperature with a longer retention time is recommended in this study. Previous studies (Zhou et al, 2013;Li et al, 2014) showed that the aqueous products from HTL process are mostly used to cultivate microalgae. The pretreatment of heavy dilutions are generally viewed as necessary for algae growth because the aqueous co-product of the HTL process contain high concentration of nutrients such as N and P. Biller et al (2012) applied different dilution multiples of 50, 200, 400 and 600 to the recycled process water from HTL process.…”

“…The result showed similar trends to those obtained in the present study. Literatures (Peterson et al, 2008;Li et al, 2014) indicate that reaction temperature and retention time dramatically affected the distribution of intermediate products in HTL process. Kruse et al (2005), Kruse et al (2007) investigated the influence of proteins on the hydrothermal liquefaction of biomass.…”

“…The chemical structure of lignocellulosic materials can be more easily disrupted under thermochemical treatments such as hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) 7 . In this case, a combination of high pressure (20 MPa to 30 MPa), high temperature (300 °C to 400 °C) and water catalytic properties leads to fast conversion of biomass into biocrude oil compounds. However, in case of HTL processing another challenge arises from to the low density of lignocellulosic matter that limits the dry matter content of the feedstock and promotes phase separation between the solid biomass and the liquid water during pressurization.…”

“…Samples were placed in the oven's capsules for combustion at 950°C using pure oxygen as the combustion gas and pure helium as the carrier gas. Carbon was determined through infrared absorption, and nitrogen was measured as N 2 using a thermal-conductivity detection system [18].…”
