“…Wang et al developed a series of alkali metal salts of phosphotungstic acid (Cs x H 3-χ PW) to catalyze the conversion of biomass-derived sugars into 1,1,2-trialkoxyethane, 183 a versatile chemical that has various applications in medicine and fragrance. The effect of the atomic ratio of Cs/H was examined, and the addition of alkaline active sites Cs facilitated the C−C bond cleavage of glucose, while an appropriate Bronsted acid derived from heteropoly acid was required for the cascade acetalization and etherification reactions of GA to 1,1,2triethoxyethane using ethanol as the capture reagent (Figure 14).…”

“…Surprisingly, the reaction with the alkynyl aldehyde leads to the formation of a 4-phenylbenzo[b] [1,5]diazocin derivative (5k, 87%) via 8-exo-dig cyclization 41 through a possible allene intermediate (eqn (1), see the ESI for the plausible mechanism). Next, owing to the medicinal importance of quinazolinone derivatives, we intended to construct praziquantel (2-methyl-3-(o-tolyl)quinazolin-4(3H)-one, 4v) that serves as an anti-convulsant drug molecule.…”

“…One of the most efficient ways to deal with the depletion of fossil fuel resources and the escalating environmental pollution is through a highly efficient approach that involves the sensible investigation and utilization of sustainable and renewable biomass resources. [1][2][3] The various fields of chemistry require a variety of more environmentally benign methods that obey all the principles of green chemistry in order to attain sustainability. 4,5 In this line, nano-catalysis plays an important role in value added catalytic processes such as easy product separation, high purity, safe catalysis, and minimum chemical waste.…”
