Abstract:We investigate the structure of N -length discrete signals h satisfying h * h = h that vanish on a given set of indices. We motivate this problem from examples in sampling, Fuglede's conjecture, and orthogonal interpolation of bandlimited signals. When N = p M is a prime power, we characterize all such h with a prescribed zero set in terms of base-p expansions of nonzero indices in F −1 h.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
