COOMET.RI(II)-S1.Rn-222 (169/UA/98): Rn-222 volume activity comparison

Abstract: According to a first program, a supplementary comparison of Rn-222 volume activity was drawn up as a bilateral supplementary comparison between NSC 'Institute of Metrology', Ukraine, and VNIIFTRI, Russia. It took place in March 2005.In April 2005, at the 5th meeting of COOMET held in Braunschweig (Germany), representatives of these institutes exchanged data which showed the comparability of the national standards of Ukraine and Russia for the check points. During the discussion of the procedure some other inst… Show more

“…The uncertainty budget of the photon fields in UDO II is described in [9]. All dose values reported in this paper are expressed in H* (10), ambient dose equivalent. In Europe, the operational quantity for area dose measurements, implemented by the council directive 2013/59/EURATOM, is H* (10), defined in [11]: "The ambient dose equivalent, H* (10), at a point in a radiation field is the dose equivalent that would be produced by the corresponding expanded and aligned field in the ICRU sphere at a depth of 10 mm on the radius opposing the direction of the aligned field."…”

“…The spectrometers were exposed to radon progeny atmospheres in the radon chamber of PTB [10]. This chamber has a volume of about 24 m 3 , which allows the simultaneous exposure of all four detectors and of a reference dose rate instrument.…”
