Coordinated control and experimentation of the dental arch generator of the tooth‐arrangement robot

Abstract: A novel system to generate the tooth arch curve has been developed. The traditional method of manually determining the dental arch may soon become obsolete in favour of the use of a robot to assist in generating a more standard tooth arch curve. The system can be used to manufacture a full denture. It will lay an important theoretical foundation for quantitative research of oral restoration, and also provide a way to standardize the manufacturing process of full denture.

“…Its mechanism of action is easy to regulate, dexterous and simple. The associated studies regarding the kinematic planning and analysis, high accuracy modulation of such robotic system based on software time, and coordinated regulation of dental arch generator are being performed [ 51 , 52 , 53 , 54 , 55 , 56 , 57 ]. Utilizing this robotic system, it only takes half an hour to finish the fabrication of the complete denture.…”

“…HongTzong Yau et al [19] reconstructed the dental root CT image into point cloud data through a level set algorithm and utilized iterative closest point algorithm to integrate dental root and dental crown data. (5) Tooth-arrangement for complete denture: Yuchun Sun et al [20], Yong-de Zhang et al [21][22][23] and Manabu KANAZAWA et al [24] significantly contributed to the tooth-arrangement method for complete denture. In particular, Sun and Zhang proposed the principle of Tootharrangement.…”

“…A shared control system was presented to drive an intelligent wheelchair using EEG signals in Vanacker et al 4 This study demonstrates that the shared control system can improve the controlling performance. Although many different medical robots have been designed [5][6][7][8][9] and provide effective tools for many stroke patients, there is no direct communication between the patient's motor volitional thinking and the rehabilitation system. In recent years, noninvasive BCI has also been shown to have a beneficial effect in stroke rehabilitation.…”
