Coordinated Control Method for Lateral Stability and Differential Power-Assisted Steering of In-Wheel Motor Drive Electric Vehicles

Abstract: In order to improve the lateral stability and handling performance of in-wheel motor drive electric vehicles, a coordinated control method considering lateral stability and differential power-assisted steering performance is proposed. A vehicle dynamics model with two degrees of freedom is established, in which the influence of system disturbance is considered. At the same time, the effect of differential torque on vehicle power-assisted steering control was analyzed, and a differential power-assisted steering… Show more

“…The hub motor drive system can be flexibly placed in the wheels of various electric vehicles, directly driving the hub to rotate. Compared with traditional centralized driving methods such as internal combustion engines and single motors, its technical advantages and characteristics in power configuration, transmission structure, handling performance, energy utilization, etc., are extremely obvious [68].…”

“…Cheng, X.L. [12] proposed a coordinated control method considering lateral stability and DDAS performance which improved the lateral stability and handling performance of in-wheel motor drive electric vehicles. Although these studies have played an important role in improving vehicle safety and handling stability, they have not considered the active control effect of AFS on DDAS.…”
