Coordinated Delivery to Shopping Malls with Limited Docking Capacity

Abstract: Shopping malls are densely located in major cities such as Singapore and Hong Kong. Tenants in these shopping malls generate a large number of freight orders to their contracted logistics service providers, who independently plan their own delivery schedules. These uncoordinated deliveries and limited docking capacity jointly cause congestion at the shopping malls. A delivery coordination platform centrally plans the vehicle routes for the logistics service providers and simultaneously schedules the dock time … Show more

“…Konig and Schon (2021) propose an optimization model for railway network delay management based on capacity constraints in railway transportation, which is of great significance for solving transportation problems under limited capacity. Song et al (2022) believe that uncoordinated delivery and limited docking capacity together lead to congestion in shopping centers. Therefore, they construct a twostage random mixed integer programming and develop an adaptive large neighborhood search algorithm to solve the coordination problem of delivery.…”

“…(Fallahtafti et al, 2021) proposed a mathematical model for time slot management of loading docks in warehouses. Most recently, (Song et al, 2022), proposed an integrated optimization approach for the simultaneous planning of vehicle routes for the TSP and schedules the dock time slots at the SC facility. (Falsafi et al, 2022) introduced a decision-support model based on truck-dock assignment and transport mode selection to minimize the ripple effect of possible disruptions on the production plans.…”
