“…7 F 5 , and 5 D 4 ! 7 F 6 transitions corroborate to the 4f-4f intraconfigurationally spin allowed emission transitions of the Tb 3+ -ion, respectively [11,23]. Among the occurred emission transitions, the strong ( 5 D 4 !…”

“…The emission spectra of the YF 3 :Tb, LaF 3 :Ce/Tb, and GdF 3 :Tb NPs were measured at room temperature under the excitation at 368 nm (Figure 8a,b). The emission spectra shown in Figure 8 revealed four distinctive emission transitions located at 620, 584, 542, and 486 nm ascribed to the 5 D 4 → 7 F 3 , 5 D 4 → 7 F 4 , 5 D 4 → 7 F 5 , and 5 D 4 → 7 F 6 transitions corroborate to the 4f‐4f intra‐configurationally spin allowed emission transitions of the Tb 3+ ‐ion, respectively [11,23]. Among the occurred emission transitions, the strong ( 5 D 4 → 7 F 5 ) transition in the green region at about 543 nm is referred to as the hypersensitive one, and it is responsible for the most intense emission transition.…”

“…Decades of research in the upconversion field have spawned an extensive array of host nanomaterials, such as various metal oxides, oxysulfides, vanadates, halides, phosphates and so on [ 32 ]. Among them, the most popular host is hexagonal phase β-NaYF 4 , which meets the requirements for ideal host materials, such as the lowest phonon frequency, high optical transparency, less hygroscopic and brighter emission than lanthanide fluoride (LnF 3 ) host [ 33 , 34 , 35 ]. Sodium ion (Na + ) has been widely introduced into the lanthanide fluoride lattice because it has nearly the same ionic radius as lanthanide ions [ 36 ].…”

“…It is the last group that is of the greatest interest, since it is the least studied, however, interest in such developments is constantly growing given their prospects in production (as components in optoelectronics, for the protection of securities, in the medical industry, etc.) [11][12][13].…”
