Coordination Complexes Built from a Ditopic Triazole-Pyrazole Ligand with Antibacterial and Antifungal Performances

Youssef Draoui,
Smaail Radi,
Mohamed El Massaoudi
et al.

Abstract: Four mononuclear complexes (H3O){[NiL3](ClO4)3} (1), [CoL3](ClO4)2·2H2O (2), [CdL2Cl2] (3) and [CuL3](NO3)2 (4) have been prepared employing a newly synthesized 1,2,4-triazole ligand: 3-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole (L). The structures of the complexes, which crystallized in P63/m (1), P-1 (2), P1 (3), and P21/c (4), are reviewed within the context of the cooperative effect of the hydrogen bonding network and counter anions on the supramolecular formations. Moreover, within the framework of … Show more

“…By comparing L 1 , C 1 and L 2 , C 2 , respectively, a shift in the bands is systematically observed, which points to metal coordination. Furthermore, the peak at 1058 cm −1 becomes stronger in C 1 compared to L 1 , which can be explained by the presence of non-coordinating perchlorate anions [ 32 ]. Using FT-IR, we were unable to observe bands corresponding to Cd-O, Cd-N, Ni-O, and Ni-N, which are theoretically expected below 500 cm −1 [ 33 , 34 , 35 ].…”

“…For example, in a study by Draoui, Y et al a series of triazole-based Schiff bases were synthesized and evaluated for their antibacterial studies against Gramnegative and Gram-positive bacteria. Some of the compounds exhibited even better activity than standard antibiotics [15]. Overall, Schiff bases are versatile compounds with diverse applications in medicine, pharmacology, and materials science.…”

“…Pyrazole-based precursors have raised great interest due to their use in a variety of fields with broad socio economic implications, such as pharmaceutics and biology, catalysis, corrosion inhibition, [1][2][3] and environmental studies. [4][5][6][7] The incorporation of a tetrazole ring to produce a pyrazole-tetrazole platform can lead to a variety of applications, based on medicinal chemistry, [8,9] catalysis, [10] energetic materials, [11,12] magnetism, [13] spin crossover, [14] chemical sensing, [15,16] luminescent properties, [17] to name but a few. On the other hand, metal complexes are gaining popularity as a promising alternative to traditional organic antibiotics.…”

“…[22] Up to now, a wide range of Cu II , Co II and Cd II complexes with azole based donor ligands have shown remarkable antifungal and antibacterial activities, [23][24][25] together with a low toxicity. [9] A vascular disease caused by the fungal infection of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. is causing several damages to cash crops including banana, garlic, tomato and palm all over the world.…”
