“…It is intriguing also that neither the original description nor the accompanying illustrations give any data about this species having a fifth leg with an inner lobe. Thompson's (1888) description mentions that the fifth legs are composed ''...of a long joint, at the apex of which are three strong spinous setae''. This suggests also that in this original specimen the three setae are equal or subequal in length and width and that they are stout, a character not shown or remarked in any other depiction of the fifth leg setae, which were all illustrated as flexible, not spinous.…”
