Coplanar Waveguide and Applications

Abstract

Coplanar waveguide (CPW) transmission line has become a popular choice for radio frequency and microwave applications because of the relative ease and flexibility of the design and manufacturing process. This article contains a general but thorough overview of the CPW technology. Analyses of several practical and common CPW design configurations based on conformal mapping method are presented in this article. Also presented are design challenges often encountered in practical applications and useful design guidelines.
