“…Bandwidths of up to 10% can be easily achieved with simple rectangular DRA; that cannot fulfill the requirement of broadband/wireless applications. So, various approach has been investigated to enhance the bandwidth of DRA as stacking multiple DRAs, using parasitic dielectric resonator elements, introducing the air gap, slot coupling, thick substrate etc [11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18]. Many bandwidth enhancement techniques investigated earlier increases the overall size and volume of the DRA antenna which can limits its use in portable device.…”

“…As the present and future communication systems have imposed strict requirements on the bandwidth of antennas, a lot of bandwidth enhancement techniques are used in designing the dielectric resonator antenna (DRA), mainly at lowering the inherent Q-factor of the resonator; using external matching networks; and combining multiple resonators. A much wider bandwidth was achieved by stacking two different DRAs [5,6], loading a high permittivity, low-profile dielectric disc on top of a conventional homogeneous DRA in and plugging an inner core into the lower stacked part [7]. In addition, multi-segment DRAs are developed to enhance its coupling to a microstrip line by inserting one or more thin segments of different permittivity substrates under a DRA of low permittivity [8].…”

“…CPW-Fed Slot Antenna with Triangular Tuning Stub [6], the slot shape could be bow-tie slot [7], wide rectangular slot [8], circular slot [9] and hexagonal slot [10]. The impedance tuning can also be performed by using coupling techniques like inductively and capacitively coupled slots [11], dielectric resonator coupling [12] and other techniques such as using photonic band gap (PGB) [13]. Using these techniques, large impedance bandwidth could be obtained but they are quite complicated.…”
