“…For example, a C12-14E7M unit contains a C12-C14 terminal alkyl radical in the ester group and a chain of seven ethoxy groups. Both polymer types exhibited a high alternation rate of alkyl methacrylate and comonomer units [15,24]. However, in 1293 POLYMERS OF HIGHER ALKYL (METH)ACRYLATES AMA-VBE copolymers, all oxygen atoms are connected to the backbone macromolecular chain directly, so that the copolymers in a non-polar oil medium should form contracted or extended polymer coils, depending on the temperature imposed.…”

“…For the synthesis and analysis of polymer samples, we used the methods that were previously developed for homopolymers and copolymers of higher alkyl methacrylates and alkyl acrylates [20,21] as well as their copolymers with amine-containing methacrylic esters and amides [22], N-alkyl (meth)acrylamides [23], AOEGM [24], and VBE [15]. For the purposes of the comparative assessment of dispersion properties, we also tested, under similar conditions, a number of commercial additives, specifically: polymethacrylate viscosity index improvers Viscoplex 0-220 and Viscoplex 7-610, polymethacrylate dispersant/VII Viscoplex 12-310 (all manufactured by Evonik RohMaX Additives GmbH), succinimide dispersant S-40 (NPP Qualitet, Russia), and thickener Syntolux V-15 (SOVKHIMTEKH, Russia; this represents a VBE homopolymer).…”

“…The synthesis of copolymers was carried out according to a previously proposed method [8]: to a boiling vinyl alkyl ether (VAE) ester solution containing 0.15 mol % AIBN (based on the active monomer) was dosed with a constant volumetric fl ow. Total comonomer ratio was 1 : 4.…”

“…Recently, special attention is paid to this characteristic of lubricating oils since it is associated with the problem of the life of oil and, consequently, resource saving and the environment. Previously, copolymers of alkyl methacrylates and vinyl butyl esters obtained in compensation polymerizations in the boiling monomers at radical initiation were proposed as viscosity modifi ers [5][6][7][8]. They are highly resistant to mechanical degradation in solutions of mineral and synthetic oils [5][6][7].…”
