Copper‐Exchanged Magnetic‐FAp: Surface Catalysis in Decarboxylative Coupling of α‐Oxocarboxylic Acids with Formamides

Abstract: An unprecedented heterogeneous catalysis in the decarboxylative coupling of α‐oxocarboxylic acids is developed. A novel copper‐containing magnetic catalyst was synthesized by introducing copper into calcium fluorapatite encapsulated iron oxide. This catalyst led to the synthesis of α‐ketoamides with a promising TON exceeding 1200.

“…Also, catalyst recycling complies with most of the "principles of green chemistry". [58,59] To achieve long durability as an essential catalytic efficiency parameter, as shown by the recovered catalyst % yields for 2a (Figure 7), The yield for five batches was 98, 95, 92, 87, and 85 %, respectively, which is justifiable considering the catalyst XRD and IR spectra (Figure 5 and 6), revealing an unchanged structure of catalyst throughout the recovery and reuse investigations.…”

“…The product was air-dried and then kept in a furnace at 300°C for 3 h to give a dark-brown powder. As shown in Scheme 1, 500 mg c-Fe 2 O 3 @FAp was stirred with 8 mmol Cu(NO 3 ) 2 Á4H 2 O in 100 mL water at room temperature for a period of 2 h. The obtained slurry was magnetic decanted, washed with DW repeatedly, and dried at 100°C yielding c-Fe 2 O 3 @CuFAp nanoparticles [30].…”
