Copper(II) complexes of 2-(1,4-dihydro-2-hydroxy-1,4-dioxonaphthalen-3-ylthio) acetic acid

Two psuedopolymorphs of iron(II) complexes, namely [Fe(phen) 3 ](HL 2 ) 2 ÁH 2 O (1); [Fe(phen) 3 ](H 2 L 2 )(L 2 )Á 7H 2 O (2) and a manganese(II) carboxylate coordination polymer [Mn(L 2 )(py) 2 (MeOH) 2 ] n (3) (H 2 L 2 = 2-(2-(3-carboxypyridin-2-yl)disulfanyl)pyridine-3-carboxylic acid, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, py = pyridine) were prepared via in situ generation of H 2 L 2 through concomitant C-S bond cleavage and S-S bond formation reactions of 2-(3-methyl-1,4-dihydro-naphthalen-2-yl-sulfanyl)nicotinic acid (L 1 ). The complex 1 has, a = 26.945(3) Å ; b = 11.6895 (10) Å ; c = 20.708(2) Å ; a = 90.008; b = 123.228(13)8; c = 90.008 and volume = 5456.0(12) Å 3 , Z = 4; the complex 2 has, a = 11.575(7) Å ; b = 21.530(12) Å ; c = 23.212(13) Å ; a = 90.008; b = 90.13(2)8; c = 90.008; volume = 5785(6) Å 3 ; Z = 4 and the coordination polymer 3 has a = 14.7154(11) Å ; b = 9.0292(11) Å ; c = 20.568 (2) Å ; a = 90.00(4)8; b = 93.032(9)8; c = 90.008; volume = 2729.0(5) Å 3 ; Z = 4.
