Copper Smelting Fine Dust Autoclave Leaching

Abstract: At present, arsenic content in copper concentrates is increasing, which leads to an increase in its content in all smelting products, the largest amount of arsenic is transferred in fine dust (dust composition,%: 10-12 Zn, 11-13 Pb, 8-15 Cu , 12-14 Fe, 5-10 As). Autoclaved leaching of dusts (temperature 160-200 °C, oxygen pressure 0.4-0.8 MPa, molar ratio H2SO4 /(Cu + Zn) = 0.75-2.25) to obtain a copper-zinc solution and a cake containing arsenic, iron and lead was studied. Copper extraction in the solution re… Show more

“…To obtain the optimal parameters of nitric acid leaching, mathematical planning of the experiment was used. StatGraphics 16 was used to construct a second-order orthogonal matrix with five variable parameters: the temperature was 65-95 • C, the nitric acid concentration was 3-8 mol/dm 3 , the concentration of Fe (III) ions was 5-20 g/dm 3 , the mass ratio FeS 2 to the mixture of sulfides was (0.5-2:1), the time was 15-60 min.…”

“…The combined use of these additives had the greatest positive effect on the process, com- To determine the influence of FeS2 and Fe (III) ions, the experiments were carried out. The parameters of the experiments were as follows: the concentration of nitric acid was 6 mol/dm 3 , the time was 60 min, the temperature was 80 °C, the concentration of Fe (III) ions was 5 g/dm 3 . FeS2 was added in mass ratio of 1:1 (to the total mass of sulfide minerals).…”

“…The current technologies for processing copper concentrates are mainly pyrometallurgical, resulting in the formation of a large amount of waste gases and dusts. Recycling of metallurgical dusts consists in extracting valuable components in the form of individual products, as well as in obtaining low-toxic compounds from harmful impurities [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]. Arsenic is a harmful impurity contained in recovered non-ferrous metals, which determines the importance of its removal from technological processes [11].…”
