Core Failure Mitigation in Integer Sum-of-Product Computations on Cloud Computing Systems

Abstract: The decreasing meantime to failure estimates in cloud computing systems indicate that multimedia applications running on such environments should be able to mitigate an increasing number of core failures at runtime. In this paper, we propose a new roll-forward failure-mitigation approach for integer sum-of-product computations, with special emphasis on high-performance generic matrix multiplication (GEMM) and convolution/cross-correlation (CONV) routines. Our approach is based on the production of redundant re… Show more

“…Undoubtedly, AWS, GCP, and Azure offer a wide range of services and tools, which can be advantageous for certain applications. However, their complexity and cost structure may not be as well suited for this specific smart city IoT deployment scenario, where rapid development and experimentation are key objectives [88]. Furthermore, DigitalOcean is highly compatible with API scripts, which play a crucial role in automating the deployment, management and scaling of resources in a cloud-native containerized smart city IoT infrastructure.…”

“…Furthermore, DigitalOcean is highly compatible with API scripts, which play a crucial role in automating the deployment, management and scaling of resources in a cloud-native containerized smart city IoT infrastructure. This compatibility allows for seamless integration with tools such as Terraform, enabling users to define, provision, and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) [87,88]. Similarly, OneHost Cloud was chosen as the alternative cloud provider for the master node.…”
