Core imprint cytology of screen-detected breast lesions is predictive of the histologic results

Abstract: Objective To study antibody‐independent contributions of B cells to inflammatory disease activity, and the immune consequences of B‐cell depletion with rituximab, in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Methods B‐Cell effector‐cytokine responses were compared between MS patients and matched controls using a 3‐signal model of activation. The effects of B‐cell depletion on Th1/Th17 CD4 and CD8 T‐cell responses in MS patients were assessed both ex vivo and in vivo, together with pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic … Show more

“…Willems et al calculated a conclusive rate between 60-75% [8]. When compared to CNBplus techniques, all test characteristics (as described in the introduction section) including inconclusive rate are similar and/or better in our study [12,20,21,15,13,19,17,16,18].…”

“…In studies on CWC the sensitivity and specificity varied from 85% to 89% and 72% to 98%, respectively, while the inadequate rate varied from 7% to 42% [1,2]. Studies on TIC showed variable results as well [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10].…”

“…The percentage of cases with a CWC diagnosis inadequate was comparable in the clinical and preclinical study (4.0% vs. 6,6%). As we stated in the preclinical study, it is important to note that the quality of the results on CWC are for a major part determined by factors such as the experience of the pathologists, the nature and the quality of the collecting medium, the standardised handling of the material by the technicians, and the cytospin monolayer preparation [3,11,13].…”
