“…The possibility of decreasing the rate of decay by increasing the treatment tirne was discussed in the same study. Sutherland et al [69] showed that aging has a negative effect on the work of adhesion for corona treated PE samples. Our results show a 20% reduction in surface tension over a 7-day period.…”

“…Figure 1b displays the apparatus of corona charging treatment. The treatment method and process were well described by Sutherland et al [17] and Mittal and Pizzi [18] presenting a modified continuous type equipment to allow a small amount of samples on a flat electrode plate to be treated, with the arc struck in a very thin space gap between the plate and moving mesh grid electrode above it. The airtight chamber was heated to 608C during corona charging procedure.…”

“…Thermal poling in silicon oil is a conventional method to improve the properties of PVDF utilized by Wang et al [13] and Ye et al [14], and corona charging has been widely used for the surface modification of polymers and metals [15][16][17]. Whereas it is imperative to study the characteristics of polarized treated films in detail, few studies dealing with thermal poling and corona charging treatments of PVDF have been presented.…”

“…This indicates that fluorine atoms are extensively depleted and oxygen-containing functional groups are formed in the vicinity of the PTFE surfaces. [ 19] Subsequently, when MAA was photografted onto the plasma-treated PTFE plates, the O 1 s/C i s value increased with an increase in the grafted amount, and then leveled off at 0.3 µmol/cm2. 0n the other hand, the O1 s/Cl s values for grafted LDPE and HDPE plates were kept constant at 20 µmol/Cm2 and 10 µmol/cm2, respectively.…”
