Correction of paralytic lagophthalmos

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Bell’s palsy causes lagophthalmos of the involved eyelids. Secondary to the atonicity of the eyelids, xerophthalmia, conjunctivitis and epiphora develops. There are dynamic (muscle transfers) and static (gold weights, tarsorrhaphy) approaches to alleviate these problems.
