“…Studies demonstrated that Chinese-origin rhesus macaques immunized with EV76 or mice immunized with the Y. pestis ⌬smpB-ssrA mutant primed a higher anti-F1 IgG titer but an almost undetectable titer with respect to LcrV antigen (38,50), results that are consistent with other studies of animals immunized with the EV76 or KWC vaccine (51)(52)(53)(54)(55)(56)(57). Mice vaccinated with Y. pestis KIM5 (lacking pgm) generated the CD4 and CD8 T cells that synergistically conferred protection against plague, but T cells from those vaccinated mice could not recognize LcrV (47).…”

“…or intravenous route produced high level of anti-F1 antibody response, but no detectable level of antibodies against LcrV [92], which are consistent with other studies of animals immunized with the EV76 or KWC vaccine [79, 9398]. Recently, Yang’s group [72] investigated the humoral and memory cellular immune responses in 65 plague patients recovered from Y. pestis infection during 16 years after infection using protein microarray and enzyme-linked immunosorbent spot assays.…”

“…Also, we report the presence of Pla cross-reactive linear B-cell epitopes that resulted in a strong reaction with this antigen of sera from naïve donors in ELISA. This was not totally surprising to us, since we saw an indication of this antibody cross-reactivity in our previous studies after probing Pla antigen with the panel of monoclonal antibodies [ 15 ], and also observed the Pla-reactive band on immunoblot with naïve human sera [ 25 ]. Interestingly, multiple vaccinations with LPV suppressed the antibody titers to Pla that were observed when recently (A-RV) and early (A-EV) groups of vaccinated donors were compared ( Fig 2 ).…”
