“…These events may lead to feelings of powerlessness among caregivers or feelings of loss of control 16 , which may be reinforced by the reported increase in behavioural problems among residents during the visitor-ban 14 , 21 . Especially, as irritability and aggressive or agitated behaviour are known to contribute to caregiver burden and distress 35 , 36 . Finally, it has been found that health care workers who were at higher risk of getting infected with COVID-19 reported higher levels of anxiety and burn-out, partly due to the risk of transmitting the disease to family members at home 37 .…”

“…Concurrent validity was measured using Spearman correlations with expected significant negative correlations with patient's function (GAF score), as well as significant positive correlations with caregiver's depression (PHQ-9 score), and anxiety symptoms (GAD-7 score) (Ji et al, 2014; Wang et al, 2017; Sun et al, 2018; Yu et al, 2018). We further performed Fisher r-to-Z test to compare the statistical significance of different correlations.…”

“…Between 50 and 80% of individuals in nursing homes are suffering from dementia, implying a higher care burden in terms of time and costs as compared to nursing home residents free of dementia. Studies found a relationship between deficits in ADL performance of individuals in nursing homes with perceived formal caregiver burden (Miyamoto, Tachimori, & Ito, 2010;Sun, Mainland, Ornstein, Sin, & Herrmann, 2018). Moreover, an increase of total resource use (hours per week) in nursing homes is associated with ADL dependence of nursing home residents (Sköldunger et al, 2019).…”
