Correlation Analysis Between Terpene and Meteorological Factors at Artificial Coniferous Forest of Mt. Moodeung

Abstract: There are many factors to influence the amount of terpene at the forest. However, it is poorly understood whether the amount is altered by meteorological factors. In order to study correlation analysis between terpene amount and meteorological(i.e., temperature, humidity, wind speed, solar radiation) and environmental factors(i.e., oxygen, carbonb dioxide) at the artificial coniferous forest of Chamaecyparis obtusa (site 1) and Cryptomeria japonica (site 2) nearby the 1 st reservoir at Mt. Moodeung, the resear… Show more

“…A similar pattern was observed in studies at the main trails of Mt. Mudeung in the recreation forest in the North Chungcheong-Province area, Ulsan, and Busan (Byeon et al 2011, Lee et al 2012a, Lee et al 2012b, Jang and Kim 2015. However, the concentration of terpenes in the air was not consistently correlated with seasonal temperature changes, probably due to rainfall and other factors .…”

“…However, the concentration of terpenes in the air was not consistently correlated with seasonal temperature changes, probably due to rainfall and other factors . The seasonal variation of the terpene concentration in the air differed depending on the type of terpene; the concentrations were the highest during the summer for α-pinene and β-pinene, during spring for cymene and d-limonene, and during autumn for camphene (Lee et al 2012a).
