Correlation between Cu mineralization and major faults using multifractal modelling in the Tarom area (NW Iran)

Abstract: Abstract:The Tarom 1: 100,000 sheet is located within the Cenozoic Tarom-Hashtjin volcano-plutonic belt, NW Iran. Reconstruction of the tectonic and structural setting of the hydrothermal deposits is fundamental to predictive models of different ore deposits. Since fractal/multifractal modelling is an effective instrument for separation of geological and mineralized zones from background, therefore Concentration-Distance to Major Fault (C-DMF) fractal model and distribution of Cu anomalies were used to classif… Show more

“…The SW-NE oriented contraction has led to the development of NW-SE trending, SW-verging folds, and NE-dipping thrusts in the Phanerozoic sedimentary strata covering the Afro-Arabian basement, above a detachment zone of the Infra Cambrian-Cambrian Hormuz evaporate (Kadinsky-Cade and Barzangi, 1982). Therefore, study area is an active region (Arian et al, 2002;Qorashi and Arian, 2011;Arian, 2011) same to Alborz at north Iran (Arian and Pourkermani, 2004;Khavari et al, 2009;Arian et al, 2011a;Arian and Bagha, 2012) and Central Iran (Pourkermani and Arian, 2001;Arian et al, 2011b;Nouri et al, 2013).…”

“…The folding and regional uplifting of Zagros proforeland basin occurred at the end of Early Miocene. Therefore, Zagros is an active fold and thrust belt [34] same to Central Iran [35]- [38] and Alborz [39]- [43].…”

“…This area has an active regime in compared to the north Iran [4]- [19], the central Iran [20]- [28], the south Iran [29]- [35] and salt diapiric areas in Iran [36] [37]. Also, some concepts of copper mineralization in Iran have investigated by [38]- [42]. In this area, volcanic rocks are commonly Eocene andesite, Oligocene-Miocene diorite to granodiorite (as stocks) and late Miocene quartz diorite dykes.…”
