Correlation network analysis between phenotypic and genotypic traits of chili pepper

Abstract: -The objective of this work was to build weighted correlation networks, in order to discover correlation structures and link patterns among 28 morphoagronomic traits of chili pepper related to seedling, plant, inflorescence, and fruit. Phenotypic and genotypic information of 16 Capsicum genotypes were analyzed. Correlation structures and link patterns can be easily identified in the matrices using the Fruchterman-Reingold algorithm with correlation network information. Both types of correlations showed the sam… Show more

“…In the correlation network, significant correlation values from the t-test were highlighted with bold edges, negative correlations were expressed in gray lines, and positive correlations were expressed in black lines. The efficiency of this innovative technique has already been reported by Ursem, Tikunov, Bovy, Berloo, and Eeuwijk (2008), Dileo, Strahan, Bakker, andHoekenga (2011), andSilva, Rêgo, Pessoa, andRêgo (2016).…”

“…In the correlation network, the values of significant correlations by t-test were highlighted with bold edges, where negative correlations were expressed in the red-colored lines and positive correlations in the green-colored lines. The efficiency of this innovative technique has been reported by Ursem et al (2008), DiLeo et al (2011) and Silva et al (2016). However, for the indirect selection to be efficient, one of the assumptions is that a genetic correlation should exist between the traits used.…”
