Correlation of Prechtl Qualitative Assessment of General Movement Analysis with Neurological Evaluation: The Importance of Inspection in Infants

Abstract: Objective: Motor development is at the forefront of evaluation of neurodevelopmental functions in the first 6 months of life. Significant spontaneous movement patterns of infants are called general movements. General movements are rough and complex movements involving the entire body. Prechtl qualitative assesment of general movements (GMA) can be performed in the first 20 weeks. It has been reported that GMA can identify motor problems with 98% sensitivity.
