Correlational Study of McCarthy, Wisc, and Stanford-Binet Scales

Abstract: A correlational study of scores on the McCarthy Scales of Children's Abilities and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children and the Stanford-Binet was conducted as an effort to demonstrate validity for the McCarthy scales. While the Binet IQ was related to the McCarthy Verbal score and General Cognitive Index, the WISC subtest scores and IQs were significantly related to McCarthy scale scores. The results indicated a lack of specificity among McCarthy scale index measures and an ambiguous definition of the… Show more

Davis andWalker (1976,1977) have also compared scores on the MSCA with the scores on the Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities (ITPA), the Test of Auditory Comprehension of Language and the WISC-R.…”

“…Concurrent validity has been established with the Stanford-Binet scales, reported as ranging from 0.80 to 0.90 across comparable age ranges [17]. MCSA and WISC-R VIQ and PIQ scores have been modestly correlated (0.59 and 0.54, respectively) [18][19][20].…”
