Correlative effect between sac regression and patient longevity following endovascular solution for abdominal aortic aneurysms: an international analysis

Abstract: Introduction Since the introduction of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) it has become the mainstay treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms. Several EVAR devices exist commercially, yet, the Terumo Aortic Fenestrated Anaconda™ endograft has demonstrated outstanding results. Evidence in the literature suggests that sac regression could be linked to patient survival and longevity. The main scope of this study is to evaluate sac regression and survival achieved using the Fenestrated Anaconda™ endograft and to di… Show more

“…58 All the above evidence, in addition to our results as well as the results of recent studies, unequivocally suggest that the Fenestrated Anaconda™ is the primary EVAR device choice for achieving long-term patient longevity and favourable late clinical outcomes, particularly survival, TVP, endograft migration and reintervention. [59][60][61] However, studies directly comparing endografts under similar clinical circumstances are encouraged.…”

“…Additionally, all patients exhibited 20–45% sac regression during years 5–9 of follow-up, which outlines the Anaconda's favourable sac regression-promoting capabilities. 63 Table 3 provides an overall summary of the findings in this section. Finally, it is important to note that all the above-discussed pre- and post-operative factors rarely exist in isolation but mostly in combination; hence, these must be carefully taken into consideration during pre-EVAR assessment.…”
