Corroborating information from disagreeing views

Abstract: We consider a set of views stating possibly conflicting facts. Negative facts in the views may come, e.g., from functional dependencies in the underlying database schema. We want to predict the truth values of the facts. Beyond simple methods such as voting (typically rather accurate), we explore techniques based on "corroboration", i.e., taking into account trust in the views. We introduce three fixpoint algorithms corresponding to different levels of complexity of an underlying probabilistic model. They all … Show more

“…The basic fact-finders include Hubs and Authorities [10], Average.Log [12], and TruthFinder [17]. Other extended fact-finders further analyze properties or dependencies within assertions and sources [2], [5]- [8]. Trust analysis has been performed for both homogeneous and heterogeneous network topology [13], [18].…”

“…This extension prevents sources from obtaining high reliability and confidence in estimation by simply making many trivially true observations. There are techniques that analyze the hardness of observations, which is possible to be integrated with our scheme [8]. In this paper, sources are assumed to report positive states of measured variables (e.g., litter found) only and ignore the negative states.…”

“…It is based on an iterative algorithm that exploits the mutual dependency between source accuracy and consensus among sources. Similarly [11] and more recently [9] other approaches presented fix-point algorithms to estimate the true values of data reported by a set of sources, together with the accuracy of the sources. These approaches do not consider source dependencies and they all deal with simple data.…”

“…Several proposals [12,9] have been recently developed to discover the true value from those provided by a large number of conflicting data sources. These solutions extend a basic vote counting strategy in several ways: first, they recognize that values provided by accurate sources, i.e.…”

“…In recent years, the athletes nutrition and supplement testing of anaerobic endurance track and field events have been in-depth researched in the field of traditional track and field events [1][2][3] . However, with the development of network information technology, computer science, mobile technology, a large amount of application models of wireless scanning technology flow appear in many fields, which including communication management, financial application, data processing of sensor and so on.…”
