Corrosion Behavior of the AlCoCrFeNi2.1 Eutectic High-Entropy Alloy in Chloride-Containing Sulfuric Acid Solutions at Different Temperatures

Abstract: In this work, the influence of temperature on the corrosion behavior of AlCoCrFeNi2.1 eutectic high-entropy alloy in a chloride-containing sulfuric acid solution was investigated using electrochemical measurement, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Results show that the passive film of AlCoCrFeNi2.1 is stable in chloride-containing sulfuric acid solutions at low temperatures, while an unstable film forms on the alloy at high temperatures. Furthermore, temperature changes the pr… Show more

“…A load level of 2 N was applied, and the friction coefficient was recorded synchronously. Figure 4 shows the dry-slip friction coefficient (no unit) curve of MAO coating at 1,800 s. The different friction coefficient reflects the physical and chemical properties, mechanical properties, hardness and wear resistance of the coating and the bonding strength between the coating and the substrate (Dib et al, 2020;Fan et al, 2022;Song and Wan, 2023). The initial friction coefficient of MAO coating on cast ZM5 is higher than that of rolled ZM5.…”

“…The eutectic high-entropy alloys (EHEAs) like AlCoCrFeNi 2.1 is also in the scope of the Special Issue. In the work [ 10 ] corrosion behavior of the AlCoCrFeNi 2.1 in chloride-containing sulfuric acid solution at different temperatures were studied. The effects of temperature on the passive and local corrosion mechanism of EHEA were discussed.…”
