Corrosion behaviour of Ni-P-SiO2 electroless composite coating

Abstract: In this paper, the protective electroless Ni-P/SiO 2 on iron substrate were successfully prepared. The prepared Ni-P/SiO 2 electroless composite coating were characterized for morphology, microstructure. The anticorrosion properties of the Ni-P/SiO 2 coating in 10wt.% HCl solution were evaluated by immersion tests, SEM and EDS at ambiance temperature. The results revealed that the SiO 2 concentration in the bath and heat treatment can influence the corrosion protection performance of electroless deposited Ni-P… Show more

“…Therefore, the researchers tried to add an appropriate amount of inert particles to the plating solution and deposit them with Ni-P to get more excellent composite coating [4]. At present, nano-SiC [5], TiO 2 [6][7][8], WC [9], SiO 2 [10,11], PTFE [12,13], ZrO 2 [14], and Al 2 O 3 [15] are common solid particles that can be added. As a widely used ceramic material, alumina is not only of high hardness but also easy to be combined with matrix [16][17][18][19].…”
