“…These results reveal that the addition of the P. terminalis extract reduces anodic metal dissolution and it also retards cathodic hydrogen evolution to a greater extent. The corrosion kinetic parameters depicted in Table I show that the cathodic Tafel slope ( b c ) values and anodic Tafel slope ( b a ) values vary slightly, specifying the tendency of an inhibitor to impede corrosion on metal on both anodic and cathodic sites representing the mixed mode of inhibition (Aejitha et al , 2016). These results reveal that the P. terminalis extract prevents corrosion by impeding the cathodic and anodic reactions because of the formation of a barrier film which reduces the effective area available for the corrosion process.…”

“…7 Variation in corrosion rate can also occur due to changes in the concentration of corrosive agents in the environment. 1,13 The study uses a controlled environment to further analyze the corrosion activity on metals by mainly focusing on the corrosion inhibition of D. blancoi acid leaf extract for short and long-term exposures. 9 Figure 4 shows the corrosion rate of mild steel sheets from the varying concentration of acid leaf extract observed under specific immersion time.…”
