Abstract:With the advent of rapid automated in silico identification of biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs), genomics presents vast opportunities to accelerate natural product (NP) discovery. However, prolific NP producers, Streptomyces, are exceptionally GC-rich (>80%) and highly repetitive within BGCs. These pose challenges in sequencing and high-quality genome assembly which are currently circumvented via intensive sequencing. Here, we outline a more cost-effective workflow using multiplex Illumina and Oxford Nanop… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
