Cost-Effectiveness of Childhood Rotavirus Vaccination in Germany

Abstract: A351general hospital (PB 6M€ ). We chose 24 active ingredients (95 different antibiotics) that represent about 1/3 of total hospital antibiotics and 80% of the total antibiotics' budget. We studied their consumption for the years 2011 and 2012 and calculated the costs based on the official drug pricelist and their price after the negotiation. Results: From 2011 to 2012 the discounts gained from each hospital were increased. Price negotiation does not apply in prototype drugs that their companies are only oblig… Show more

“…In the base case, the costs of the PPSV23-only strategy were € 6,700 per hospitalisation prevented, and € 12,800 per QALY gained. Thus, vaccination of older adults with PPSV23 (applied to costs per QALY) is clearly more cost-effective than, for example, rotavirus vaccination of infants (about € 120,000 per QALY [119]). The strategy of sequential initial vaccination would incur extremely high additional costs of about € 1.5 million per hospitalisation prevented, and € 2.8 million per QALY gained.…”

“…Zoster elleni vakcinákat is kifejlesztettek, az élő-attenuált hatásossága azonban időskorban rossz, a legújabb alegységvakcina ugyan idősekben is nagyon hatékony, viszont súlyos oltási reakciót okoz [7]. A rotaví-rus elleni oltások költséghatékonysága kérdéses [8]. Ná-lunk az Országos Egészségbiztosítási Pénztár nem támogatja, igen drága, emiatt inkább csak a gazdagabb szülők oltatják be gyermekeiket.…”
