Cost-efficient integration of distributed generation into medium voltage networks by optimized network planning

Abstract: In this contribution, a method for evaluating and minimizing network related costs for distributed generation in an objective manner is presented. The network optimization tools used provides functionality to realize long-term cost-efficient integration of distributed generation. Besides, short-term measures for connecting distributed generation to an existing network with minimum financial effort can be determined as well. To evaluate costs related to distributed generation, minimal costs for networks with in… Show more

“…Sometimes, it is more beneficial to invest a bit more on the network connection and choose a longer path 22 if in return there would be a cut in the reinforcement cost of the grid or the amount of DGs curtailment. The connection point of a DG can also affect the capacity of the grid to integrate more DGs in future.…”

“…Poor or no planning can result in obtaining a massive loss of power [4], or serious disturbances in the network, which would adversely affect the quality of supply. In [5] and [6] the importance of good planning is emphasized and the need to develop efficient algorithms that simplify that task is pointed out.. The influence of storage units in electricity networks is addressed by some authors.…”
