“…One plate batch equilibrations of several azo compounds in the 10 taining only one or two polar substituents, are used to determine the increase in dye uptake as a function of various polar groups, number of aromatic rings, and hydrogen ion concentration. Initial column studies show some of the advantages of PVP in quantitating azo compounds in comparison to some of the past methods such as reduction with various reducing or hydrogenating agents like titanous and chromous ions (20), electrochemical titrations (21,22), or reaction gas chromatography (23). It not only enables quantitative analysis of trace organics by concentration, it does it simply and without elaborate reaction conditions.…”

“…Several reports on the coulometric titration with electrogenerated Ti(III) have been published. [26][27][28][29][30] Tanaka et al mentioned that the current efficiencies of the generation of Ti(III) from Ti(IV) were 100% for 0.5 mol L À1 to 1 mol L À1 Ti(IV) in 9 mol L À1 sulfuric acid on a platinum electrode, 100% for 0.1 mol L À1 to 1 mol L À1 Ti(IV) in 2 mol L À1 to 9 mol L À1 sulfuric acid on a graphite electrode, and 100% for 0.1 mol L À1 to 1 mol L À1 Ti(IV) in 2 mol L À1 to 9 mol L À1 sulfuric acid on a mercury electrode at an appropriate current density. 30 The current density 30 mA cm À2 was available to achieve a 100% current efficiency on a mercury electrode.…”
