Coupled random PWM technique for dual inverter fed induction motor drive

Abstract: Dual inverter fed induction motor drives provide more advantages in contrast with other multilevel inverter drives. Coupled PWM techniques provide good standard of output voltage than the decoupled PWM techniques for dual inverter configuration. In this paper analysis of open end winding induction motor by coupled random PWM signals and decoupled SVPWM signals was carried out. Induction motor by random PWM technique generate low acoustic noise and electromagnetic interference to near by systems. The performanc… Show more

“…Previously, the maximum rating of the power converter was restricted at a certain level due to the power limits of the semiconductor switches. In order to overwhelm the dilemma two approaches are stated in the last three decades that are, either by increasing the number of phases or by increasing the number of voltage levels [1][2][3]. In fact, multi-phase systems such as a 5Ph-VSI have additional merits, particularly when used as a driver for multi-phase electric machines, such as: the ripple of DC-bus voltage is lower, a high tolerance under a wide range of faults, increasing in reliability and decreasing line-current for the same power capacity [4][5][6][7].…”

“…Adopting the pulse width rate to control the output voltage of the inverter through the stimulation pulses of the inverter switch gates [16]- [21]. The inverter voltage changes with the change in load, so I found the need for a control process to stabilize the voltage by controlling the inverter output (correcting and setting) according to the load value [22]- [26]. The current study includes a reflector with a pulse width rate, and the study is using a computer program that helps simulate the system designed for the current study.…”

“…In the studies of [17]- [19], random variable switching frequency pulse width modulation (R-VSFPWM) have proposed for distributing the harmonics over a wide frequency band through adopting a random carrier frequency variation during the fundamental frequency cycle. This technique is proposed to have effectively suppressing the electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise in the power electronics conversion system.…”
