Abstract:From the drawing board to the product, crystalline protein assemblies with alternating compact and porous layers were obtained. Trimeric protein RSL, with pseudo‐C6 symmetry, forms honeycomb assemblies in the presence of cucurbit[7]uril. A coiled‐coil fused to the N terminus of RSL re‐forms the honeycomb assembly but with poorly packed spacer layers. Such bio‐supramolecular tectonics could serve the development of biomaterials. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
