Abstract:Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are an emerging class of aromatic molecules in materials science. In their Communication on page 6551, K. Itami, K. Murakami et al. present the development of a palladium‐catalyzed annulative dimerization of phenylene triflate by twofold inter‐ and intramolecular C−H activation. This transformation forms two C−C bonds in one go, and thus enables the rapid synthesis of a variety of PAHs.
The thermochromic effect of modified VO2 enhances photocatalytic CO2 reduction, and its dynamic change process is monitored by a series of in situ experimental verifications and theoretical calculations.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
