Other studies have also indicated that closure of schools and other hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have led to suicidal thoughts in young people, with some individuals turning to alcohol and drugs to escape anxious thoughts about the pressures of the pandemic and fatalistic thinking 19 20 25–31.
