This study investigated the causes and risks for infection spread in three psychiatric hospitals in Chung-buk, South Korea, to strategize measures to block transmission and prevent a large-scale epidemic. From December 2020 to January 2021, 358 inpatients of Psychiatric Hospitals A, B, and C were enrolled to identify the epidemiological characteristics of confirmed patients. Epidemic curves and propagation relationships were constructed and a genotype analysis was conducted. The index case inpatient from Hospital A transmitted the infection to patients in Hospitals B and C; the infection was confirmed in 47, 193, and 118 patients in Hospitals A, B, and C, respectively. The patient characteristics hampered communication and the close identification of symptom onset. The incidence rate was 10 (2.9%) among employees and 348 (35.8%) among inpatients. The relative risk was 12.1 (95% CI: 6.6–22.5) times higher among inpatients than employees. Next-generation sequencing confirmed the probable infection source as a genotype identical to that of two different outbreaks, although the infection spread was undetermined. Direct risk factors emerged from patient characteristics, wherein cohort isolation was meaningless due to uncontrolled communication. Indirect risk factors included hospital-specific problems due to external factors (non-patient system deficiencies or employee negligence). Prior inspections, a confirmation of non-infection, and institutional emergent measures are needed.

Corona Virus Disease of 2019 atau disebut COVID-19 merupakan wabah penyakit yang menginfeksi saluran pernafasan pada manusia yang dapat menyebabkan kematian. Wabah ini terjadi hampir di seluruh negara di Dunia. Upaya untuk mencegah penyebaran COVID-19 antara lain sering mencuci tangan atau menggunakan hand sanitizer dan meningkatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh (sistem imunitas) melalui asupan makanan yang kaya antioksidan maupun imun boost. Berdasarkan studi literatur yang telah dilakukan, tanaman lokal Indonesia diprediksi dapat menjadi kandidat penghambat COVID-19 seperti jahe (Zingiber officinale), kunyit (Curcuma longa L.), dan temulawak (Curcuma xanthorriza Roxb). Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini melalui sosialisasi dilakukan di Desa Puasana, Kecamatan Moramo Utara, Kabupaten Konawe Selatan, Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara. Tujuan sosialisasi ini adalah untuk memberikan edukasi dan mengajak masyarakat agar menjaga kesehatan dengan tetap menerapkan physical distancing dan meningkatkan sistem imun dengan mengkonsumsi makanan sehat serta menggunakan hand sanitizer pada saat keluar rumah. Metode pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan dengan cara memberikan sosialisasi dengan media presentasi. Hasil dari pengabdian ini adalah meningkatnya pemahaman masyarakat khususnya di Desa Puasana tentang cara pembuatan hand sanitizer alami dan minuman herbal instan. Hal ini berdasarkan pada masyarakat yang aktif dan antusias dalam memberikan pertanyaan untuk mengetahui langkah-langkah pencegahan penyebaran Covid-19. Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that has a high fatality rate and is spreading quickly throughout the world. The WHO claims that SARS-CoV-2, a brand-new coronavirus strain, is to blame for this outbreak (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus-2) and that COVID-19 must be treated with both conventional medical therapy and a combination of modern medicine. The technique of this study, a review of the literature, focused on numerous investigations looking at the potential of curcumin molecules from turmeric to cure the COVID-19 disease. Primary data for scientific papers is gathered from national and international journals through searches on electronic search engines like Google Scholar, Sciencedirect, or PubMed and selected publications are assessed, evaluated, and interpreted by authors. Turmeric contains substances that are immune system boosters, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, antiviral, and antioxidants. Curcumin may prevent a number of viral infections, according to evidence. In vitro testing has shown that the SARS-CoV virus is resistant to curcumin's antiviral properties. It's possible that curcumin can halt viral replication. Curcumin has the potential to treat COVID-19 effectively. Curcumin has antiviral activity that can fight the SARS-CoV-two virus. Treatment with curcumin can change the virus top protein structure, preventing the virus from entering the body and from budding. Future study on the use of curcumin as SARS-Cov-2 virus inhibitory agent is necessary in order to employ it as a novel and long-lasting therapy option for COVID-19 patients.
