“…It is remarkable that overall the variables being affected in terms of mental health-a factor that can enhance threat appraisal, vulnerability-and the feeling of being well informed-a factor that can enhance efficacy-belonged to the most frequent predictors of both outcomes across countries [22]. These results that are in line with other recently published findings from cross-national research [56] emphasize the urgent importance of competent information by governments and authorities. They also underline the need for further investments in mental health services, including low-threshold programs-not only to support those already affected and to prevent a future increase in mental disorders, but especially with regard to COVID-19, to improve adherence to behavioral interventions to control the pandemic.…”

“…But with the rapid increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases globally, the COVID-19 epidemic shows no signs of slowing down. It is essential to support global cooperation and concerted prevention and control of COVID-19 ( Lazarus et al, 2020 ). Therefore, it has become an urgent scientific issue to grasp the temporal and spatial changes of COVID-19 transmission and clarify its driving mechanism.…”

“…However, the use of conceptual frameworks is essential for research into public health interventions [21]. In addition, the methodological challenges of such a survey in Africa are signi cant [22,23], as there is no national sampling frame and the many web-based surveys of knowledge about the disease [17] or government responses [24] continent have signi cant methodological limitations.…”
