Crack Initiation Behaviors of Granite Specimens Containing Crossing‐Double‐Flaws with Different Lengths under Uniaxial Loading

Abstract: Crack initiation is an important stage in the failure process of rock masses. In this paper, crack initiation behaviors (crack initiation model, crack initiation location, crack initiation angle, and crack initiation stress) of granite specimens containing crossing-double-flaws with different lengths were investigated using PFC2D software. Crack initiation models were all tensile wing cracks, which did not exactly initiate from the main flaw with a length of 30 mm. They can initiate from the secondary flaw wit… Show more

“…The isotherm curves for N 2 adsorption and desorption were obtained, and all the samples were belong to types III and IV according to IUPAC (Figure 3) [46]. The capillary hysteresis loops were distinct and similar to those of H3 types, suggesting that slit-shaped pores were the main pore types in C7 shale, corresponding to the SEM images [47][48][49].…”

“…To ensure that the results of this experiment are comparable with the methods of literature [12] and literature [13], comparative experiments are performed, and the experimental data of the filtration performance of the granular sieves were obtained as comparative experimental data to test the effect of reinjection of geothermal tail water in moderately deep sandstone.…”

“…At present, research on the testing of reinjection of geothermal tail water has generally developed outside of China and has mainly focused on the well location layout, well network optimization, well spacing, reinjection temperature, reinjection process, and reinjection mode. Based on a large amount of heat flow data, the geothermal resources of dry hot rocks in mainland China are evaluated [13][14][15][16]. Large-scale karst heat storage is utilized to develop modular heating and geothermal energy storage technology, forming a new "Geothermal+" clean energy utilization pattern that considers geothermal energy as well as other forms of energy [17].…”

“…According to the definition of the overlying strata and its deformation and rupture characteristics, there were three strata in the strata overlying the coal seam, i.e., subkey strata I, subkey strata II, and the primary key strata, all of which have a large thickness, a large elasticity modulus, and a high strength. Due to the significant influence of the rupture of the key strata on the stope, it often occurs with periodic weighting [29][30][31]. It can be reasonably presumed that the surface well was also seriously affected by the rupture of the key strata, which was investigated using the three-dimensional physical similarity simulation.…”
