Craniectomy for middle cerebral artery infarction

Abstract: Acute occlusion of the major intracerebral arteries produces brain ischaemia and cerebral oedema with an attendant rise in intracranial pressure producing an intracranial compartment syndrome (‘malignant’ stroke).
