Creating an Energy Analysis Concept for Oil and Gas Companies: The Case of the Yakutiya Company in Russia

Abstract: Recently, energy analysis has been added to Russian gas companies’ annual reporting system. This new practice indicates that corporate reports are improving their analyses by addressing energy issue and the financial efficiency of energy production. However, the use of summary energy indicators is limited in these annual reports. In this paper we review the history of energy analysis in Russia from the early USSR period to today. Under the guidance of energy return on investment (EROI), we compare energy effic… Show more

“…Take a non-melt industry for example, China exports major metals and nonmetallic primary minerals such as rare earths at much lower price, and then bought imported finished products at very high price. Compared with other countries, for example, Russia, there are mining-oriented regions, for example Kuzbas, and there are regions oriented to the final processing, for example Vologda [50,51]. For this reasons Russia has strong interregional flows, however, in China there are few longer value chain flows between Provinces.…”

“…Hall and D. Murphy, it is the energy indicators that give stability to the system of sustainable growth in General [Murphy et al, 2011;Hall, Balogh, Murphy, 2009]. Nowadays, it is very important to improve energy efficiency, energy sustainability for Russian gas companies [Yan et al, 2019]. Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has launched a global initiative to achieve Sustainable Energy for All by 2030.…”

“…The petroleum industry is distinguished from other industries by high-energy intensity. In particular, the energy costs often amount to more than 50 percent of the cost of production for oil and gas industry facilities [4]. Furthermore, the traditional way of using a centralized power grid does not currently meet the requirements for the level of reliability and quality of the energy supply for the oil and gas industry.…”
