Creep and Electrochemical Corrosion Behavior of Heat-treated Mg-9Al-1Zn Alloy

Abstract: The heat treatment homogenized the β phase.  The β phase was observed mainly at triple points of grain boundaries of the heattreated alloy.  The time to rupture was ten times longer for the heat-treated alloy than for the cast alloy.  The polarization and EIS tests indicated a slight improvement in corrosion resistance of the heat-treated alloy relative to the untreated one.
