“…This pattern is seen across eastern, central, and southern Africa and is coeval with a Miocene change from carbonate to clastic sedimentation recorded at most major African deltas (e.g., Anka & Séranne, ; Nyagah, ; Paul et al, ; Reijers, ; Salman & Abdula, ; Sestini, ; Séranne & Nzé Abeigne, ). An increase in Oligocene to Neogene clastic flux is documented at many of Africa's major deltas (e.g., Nile, Jubba‐Shebelle, Zambezi, Limpopo; Figure ; Said et al, ; Walford et al, ).
